Equal Justice Works Fellow

Rose Wehrman (she/her) joined the Philadelphia office of the Education Law Center in 2024 as an Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by Greenberg Traurig, LLP. As a law fellow, Rose works to prevent the unlawful and disproportionate pushout of underserved preschool children in Philadelphia, including through discriminatory suspensions, expulsions, and inadequate services. She provides legal representation in due process hearings, IEP meetings, school negotiations, and other avenues, as well as systemic advocacy aimed at dismantling the barriers driving preschool exclusion in Philadelphia.

Rose graduated from Columbia Law School in 2024. During law school, Rose was a Max Berger Public Interest/Public Service Fellow. Rose advocated for Philadelphia youth through her experiences interning at Education Law Center, Juvenile Law Center, the Youth Sentencing and Re-entry Project, and Support Center for Child Advocates. She also participated in Columbia’s Family Defense Clinic and education policy lab. Before law school, Rose worked in a classroom in Northeast Philadelphia, at several afterschool programs across Nebraska, and at the Nebraska Department of Education.
